The Invitation Place Blog

Sylvia and Dante 2011

Sylvia and Dante came to The Invitation Place looking for an invitation that would reflect a quiet sophistication. They wanted something classic and beautiful without a lot of loud colours or patterns. At our initial meeting we talked about a wall paper that the Bride liked at the venue where there reception was being held. I asked her to send me a photograph. This was the springboard for her design. We recreated the wallpaper and used it as a watermark image on her invitation. We used a small crystal buckle and satin ribbon to close the folder. The finished product was so elegant and gorgeous. The invitation really does set the tone. As you can see from this real life wedding, the details were just perfect! I wish Sylvia and Dante a beautiful life together!! It was wonderful to work with them both! Their invitation was one of my favourites this year! Thank you to www.mangostudios.com for the beautiful photos.

This elegant invitation had to capture a number of elements: A two day wedding celebration and ceremony, along with directions, accommodation information, parking and reply. A lot of small details went into making this invitation beautiful and soft.  Luxmi (the bride) is a designers dream, as she is a paper lover in every aspect.  No detail was overlooked.  The end result was a very personal and stunning design.

As for the colour scheme, we tied in pink accents with grey and taupe as well as incorporated a paisley pocket folder that reflected the Bride and Grooms Indian heritage.  The result was a gorgeous and very luxe card for our bride Luxmi :)

Compact pocket folders keep invites organized and neatly in place

Hey Everyone!

Thought I would take a bit of time to let you all in on another one of the great invitation designs I had the pleasure of crafting.  I worked with a very special couple to complete a simply elegant and truly classic invitation that included one of this year’s most popular trends.  Damask designs usually depict flower patterns, and have been showcased in everything from home, stationary and event décor.  We chose damask as one of the key elements to make this invitation special and unique – and the result was gorgeous! The couple decided to use this design to accent their accommodation and reply cards in a stunning teal colour that pops against the classic black and white we paired with it.Another element I really loved about this invitation was the compact pocket folders.  It’s another new design for this season that keeps the invites organized and neatly in place.  Combining fashion and function is essential for any wedding invitation, which I thought was achieved so well here!Without spoiling the surprise for the bride and grooms guests, I have posted a few pictures! Hope you all enjoy them, there’s more to come very soon!

A sneak peak of one of our latest designs

Let me start off by saying that the last few months have been extremely busy!  I couldn’t be more thrilled as I have had the pleasure of working with some fabulous couples and helping them achieve their perfect wedding invitations.

Recently, I was pleased to work with clients who incorporated an unexpected and unique colour combination, which I just loved! The result was a very pretty design that had both feminine and masculine qualities.  During the creation, we explored a number of different floral options and felt that the one selected fit perfectly.  This couple is getting married in a country setting, and the hydrangea from her bouquet was used to compliment the invitation.  Without giving away the surprise for our bride and groom’s guests we’ve taken precaution to keep their names concealed while still giving you a glimpse of the final product.  We hope you all enjoyed this post, and stay tuned for more to come very soon!

Ashley and Matthew Wedding

Ashley-and-Matthew Real Life Wedding

I met Ashley in a boutique I used to own.? She was such a beautiful fun young women with a vibrant personality.? So naturally I was thrilled when she and her mom asked me to design their wedding stationery.? We knew right away that it had to be something fun and fresh and of course very elegant!? The wedding was to be held on her fiance’s parents estate in King.? An outdoor wedding with flowers and sunshine.? The fuschia pink design was so in keeping with the day that there was no other choice!? We jumped right and in!? Below you can see how we followed her theme through to her programs too!

Kate and Godrej Wedding

Kate-and-Godrej Real life wedding

“A modern garden party” was the vision that Katie and Godrej had come to me with.  We wanted to create an invitation that was fresh, clean and stylish.  We knew a flower was going to play a key role in the design.  At first, Katie thought a peony in a linear outline would be nice (in green), but after creating this and having a good laugh we decided that our first vision looked more like a cabbage! So, we were off to find another flower to inspire us! We looked at several options and finally decided on a spider mum - what a great choice!!  This flower was going to play a key roll in the decor and it made for an interesting and unique design.A completely custom flower illustration was brought to life from a photograph and the end result was perfect!  Much focus was given creating just the right tone for the fonts as well.  It was a very serious meeting lol, both the bride and groom had their favourites but in the end we combined all of our ideas to create just the right balance!

Katie and Godrej wanted everything to be perfect, so we made sure that all the small details for the ceremony and reception were included in their stationery package.  A large 24×36 seating chart directing guests to the tables, a ceremony program introduced their family and friends while outlining the service, menus displayed the yummy food awaiting and other touches of their stationery design floated through the garden welcoming guests as they sipped champagne and danced the night away! I was thrilled to work with Katie and Godrej, you can not meet a nicer couple and I wish them happiness for a lifetime!!  I hope in 50 years they can look back at their invitation and remember the wonderful summer day that was their wedding.  Cheers!

Stephanie and Diego Wedding

Real-life-wedding--Stephanie-and-Diego

This was one the most beautiful wedding stories that I have been honoured to be a part of.  Set in Ceranesi Italy, hometown to the Groom and set against the backdrop of the ocean and lush countryside. When we first met to talk about ideas for their stationery, we had such a great time! Stephanie and Diego made it a breeze!  Both of them were open to new concepts and ideas as we pulled out all the swatches and papers to truly harmonize an assortment of pieces that would reflect the soft, romantic day they had been envisioning!  This tri-fold square invitation allowed us to have both the beautiful imagery of a single bloom which was mirrored with the bride’s bouquet on her wedding day and again on her dress at the Toronto reception. We needed something that would also relay and keep tidy all the pertinent details. We managed to do this in one compact little package!  How great!  The invitation was completed in English and Italian, along with a Toronto reception invitation for local guests.  The result was an ensemble that was simply elegant. We wish Stephanie and Diego a wonderful life together; hope that they cherish their invitation as a memory of their day, and as a symbol of their commitment to each other.
